TERNA ENERGY was founded in 1997 and has been active in the energy sector with emphasis on renewable energy sources. TERNA ENERGY constructs and operates renewable energy sources facilities focusing in wind and solar energy as well as hydroelectric projects.

On November 28th 2024, Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy leader, acquired 70% of the company’s outstanding shares from GEK TERNA SA and other shareholders, to become majority shareholder.

Masdar has launched an all-cash mandatory tender offer to acquire all the remaining outstanding shares of TERNA ENERGY with the intention of reaching 100%.

The acquisition reflects Masdar’s confidence in TERNA ENERGY’s growth plan targeting renewable energy operational capacity of 6GW by 2029, as well as the strength of the Greek market and its renewables sector.

It’s total installed power portfolio currently stands at 1,224 megawatts (MW}.
