Hydro Pumped Storage in Amari

Iti is the largest hybrid project in Europe, with a total investment of € 280 million, using innovative design.
This pioneering project is based on effectively integrating wind power generation with pumped
storage technology in an innovative Hybrid System.

• It consists of wind farm (of 27 wind turbines) in the Municipality of Siteia, of total
  installed capacity of 89.1 MW and a pumping system in the existing reservoir of the
  River Dam, in the Municipalities of Amari and Rethymno, with a total capacity of 72
  MW.
• Interconnection works: a 20/150 kV Substation & High Voltage Overhead transmission
  line.
• With multiple benefits during its construction and operation, as:
  1000 new jobs will be created during construction period, 100 during operation
  It is an investment with a high domestic added value of over € 170 million
